It’s a dilemma that a lot of men in Wisconsin face. When you’re wearing fashion denim for men, how long should that denim be? You don’t want the length of your socks to be visible (not even when sitting down,) but you also don’t want your designer menswear scraping along the ground and getting dirty and frayed because the jeans are too long. So, how long should jeans be?

No matter what kind of jean you’re wearing, they should hit just around the ankle, and a bit longer than that ankle bone rather than a bit shorter. This will ensure that only a small portion of your sock is visible, even when you sit down; but that your jeans don’t drag on the ground when you stand up and walk. So, how do you know which length will give you that proper look you’re going for?

Most jeans come in numerical sizes for length, such as 30”, 32”, 34”, and 36”. Typically when you’re looking at higher-end brands such as Agave denim, this is what you’ll find. You can match yourself to these numbers by simply measuring the length of your leg from the ankle to the waistline. Other jeans come in vague sizes such as “short,” “medium,” “long,” and “extra-long.” With these styles, you may find that you have to try on several pairs before finding the one that’s right for you.

Truthfully, your jeans should be whatever length makes you feel most comfortable. However, to keep yourself looking like you purchased the wrong size, or to keep them looking good by preventing them from dragging on the ground, make sure they fall somewhere around your ankle bone.
