Nix Your Going-Out Shirt, Replace it With One From David Donahue

Do you have a “going-out shirt?” If so, don’t worry—this condition is completely curable. Many men in Milwaukee and Shorewood suffer from this problem too, so you are not alone. The solution is a trim fit David Donahue dress shirt (and we have them here at Harleys).

But first, let’s discuss the “going-out shirt” issue. GQ.com astutely defines the going-out shirt as the uniform many young men wear out to bars, clubs, dates, parties, and basically any event at which a guy wants to communicate that he is out on the town. The mag describes its features as, “thigh-length swaths of cotton, collars pointed outward like airplane wings, sleeves rolled up and flared out like a Musketeer's.” Also, it is always untucked, and worn with jeans.

The problem is that you shouldn’t have a “going-out shirt.” You should have a wardrobe that allows you to dress appropriately for any destination. Otherwise, you might as well go to CINTAS Uniforms in Milwaukee and buy scrubs that have “I’m here to have a good time,” printed on the chest and wear it everywhere you want to party.

It also kinda makes you look like a bro. Like, you probably own a lot of Ed Hardy, Affliction and other print-screen tees adorned with crosses, skulls and shiny things. *shudder*

All that being said, you can still rock a button-down shirt, just in a different way.

This is where David Donahue comes in. David Donahue is the best in the dress shirt biz, and we carry his “trim fit” style. Trim fit means that the shirt is cut a bit shorter to prevent bunching at the waist, and the sides are fitted, so there is less excess material.

The key is to transition it successfully from the office to da club. For example, when 5 p.m. rolls around, ditch your suit jacket and tie for a tweed blazer. Or, just keep the shirt tucked in with dress pants. Maybe pair it with a nice vest (just make sure you don't look like the bartender).

That’s pretty easy, right? Now come into Harleys and sample our wide selection of David Donahue trim fit shirts.
